Below is a list of nearby hikes in the Twin Lakes area.
More links with trail information will be added to list as time goes by
and locals provide trip reports, photos and links. (Send hike suggestions to the webmaster: steve garufi [no space] at gmail dot com.)

La Plata Peak
La Plata Peak is a Colorado "14er" west of Twin Lakes.
The trailhead is located approximately 13.5 miles with a parking area along Highway 82. (The link above is provided by 14ers.com.) |
 |
Mt. Elbert
Mt. Elbert is another "14er" located northwest of Twin Lakes. At
14,433 feet in altitude at the summit, it is the highest point in Colorado. (The link above is provided by 14ers.com.) |
 |
Willis Gulch
The signage and trailhead for Willis Gulch and Willis Lake is very tricky.
Definitely use a good topographical map with the general trailhead area being
just a few miles westward on Highway 82. (The above link is an individual's blog who hiked into the gulch.) |

Snowdrift Ridge - Independence Pass
Snowdrift Ridge is the right peak (among the three points) seen in the left photo.
From Independence Pass, it is a relatively gentle walk of approximately two miles (each way)
to the top. This is also a popular spot for skiers and snowshoers when there is snow at the pass.

Missouri Gulch Trail
The Missouri Gulch Trail begins inside Clear Creek Canyon near Vicksburg in northern Chaffee County
- due south of Twin Lakes. The trail leads to spur trails to 14ers Mt. Belford
and Missouri Mountain and Elkhead Pass.
of Twin Lakes. (The link above is a page by "Colorado Guy" from his hike of Mt. Belford via this route.) |
